In-service Training Days
If School use Friday, 1 September 2006 as the first day of the academic year, then this day should be used as an INSET day for staff and the earliest first pupil day should be Monday, 4th September 2006. Alternatively, school may use Monady, 4th September 2006 as the first academic year. In this case, the 'envelope'of dates is reduced to 194 days (regardless of whether Monday 4th September is used as an INSET day). This will mean that schools will either need to disaggregate an INSET day into 6 hours or organise an INSET dayon a day designated for school closure.
