West Ham Community Forum
Community Forums have been set up by the London Borough of Newham in response to the Government’s drive to modernise local governance. Forums are a mixture of residents, business representatives, community representatives, and elected Councillors that meet to discuss and plan events around issues of local concern. Community Forums also give local residents and stakeholders the chance to give their views on local services and make decisions on matters that will affect the future of their area. Community Forums will express opinion and influence decision-makers, such as the Council, Police and Health.
The Forum has a steering group to guide the direction of the Forum and encourage members of the local community to get involved in events and activities. The role of the steering is NOT to represent but to co-ordinate and gather opinion, feedback and views from the events and activities.
The West Ham Community Forum shares the same boundaries as the NDC and the NDC Community Involvement Team works closely with the Forum.
